Oh wow...

There are so many objects. I can't even imagine how long this took to make. Anyway, it was so very informative. The commentary was in simple terms, and it was often quite funny. The drawn objects all looked magnificent. The controls were smooth, and there was no visible lagging. The background music was a nice touch as well.
Newgrounds needs more stuff like this. Wouldn't it be cool to have something similar, except you can zoom out from a top down view of the earth all the way to the furthest observable edge of the universe? This is off topic. Good job on this! I loved your previous "Scale of the Universe" as well. I hope you'll keep on making awesome games like this one!

Well...

The art was pretty well done. I also didn't notice many glitches or bugs at all. My biggest complaint is the unoriginality, but if this is your very first flash game, it is understandable that you would want to try out something familiar. In fact, my very first flash game was a very poorly drawn maze game. :p My other, smaller complaint is that there wasn't (as far as I know) a way to lose the game. Lastly, the game wasn't very long. There was only one level.
I commend your efforts since this is a first flash game. I think you have potential, especially in your artwork. Good job! :)

Deleric responds:

Thanks for the art comments. While I've only just begun touching actionscript, I've been drawing for years. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow...

What an amazing game. I really loved the art style and the dialog, and the small details you included, such as when you click on a painting. A few small problems here and there, but mostly perfect.
The main complaint I have is that there aren't any clues for some of the puzzles. I could be wrong, but the first puzzle was entirely guessing the pattern.
Other than that, though, the game really is excellent. Good job. :)

ImpendingRiot responds:

Thanks I appreciate it! Yeah the first puzzle is probably one of the trickier ones, in hindsight. There IS a clue, it's just very subtle. I'm always experimenting, sometimes things work better than you expect, sometimes they don't.

Thanks for the review :)

Pretty good!

This is strikingly similar to "The Facebook Game" (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/vie w/506611) However, I'm reviewing solely for quality.
Visuals - 9/10
The pixelated look was simple, but it worked perfectly here. Also, the dark mask around the edges of the screen was a nice touch.
Sound - 6/10
This part was the main problem, in my opinion. The music was a bit repetitive and almost got annoying after a while, but it did go well with the feel of the game.
Gameplay - 8/10
A few tiny bugs here and there, but otherwise it was great. I liked the in-game help, and even though I didn't need it, someone probably will.
Overall - 8/10, 4/5
For a quickly-made game, this was very well done. Good job! :)

Eh..

Altogether, for a beginning flash programmer, this was almost decent, however, it lacked any real method to keep the player entertained. The menus weren't very intuitive, as was the case with a majority of the game itself. Most of the things you animated weren't very appealing, and the compressed pictures you used for the OS simulation weren't either. I will cut you a lot of slack because this is a "beta," however, unless you greatly improve the final version, I cannot see it being much better, but only longer. Here are some suggestions from me. The first one is to use variables instead of animating every single frame that the user will see, as I am almost certain you are doing. There are some excellent actionscipt tutorials on NG for variables that will help you a lot if you pay attention to the code and don't just copy and paste it.
Secondly, I recommend that you either take more time with you animating, or get someone else to do it for you (and credit them, of course.) This game looked rather unpolished and rough.
Lastly, I recommend that you learn more in actionscript before you decide to tackle projects like this one. Learn how to quickly and efficiently code things to do what you want them to do. This will help GREATLY, both with time and with the quality of the output program.

Finally, the area of praise in my review is your use of sounds. They sound pretty good, even if they aren't all completely authentic for Windows XP. Good job on that.

Thanks for the tips. :)

Amazing dialogue.

Overall, this game is really good. The graphics are a strong point in the overall presentation.

Graphics: 10/10, The old-school RPG-style graphics worked exceptionally well in this game. Also, the menu screen is very original.

Animation: 9/10, While most things were great, such as the waterfalls, the water itself was motionless. Although this wasn't a huge problem, there were others as well.

Story: 10/10, The story itself was awesome. The dialogue was laid back and informal, which matches the overall style of the game. In fact, the dialogue was the part that made this game hilarious. Good job with that.

Sound: 9/10, Pretty much perfect.

Overall: 9.5/10 -> 10/10, 5/5

I can tell you are an experienced programmer, judging by this game. I can see you making even better games in the future. Good luck!

First flash game?

This is very good for a beginner. No, excellent. The controls are smooth, the AI is very good, and it has a moderate difficulty.
Graphics: 9/10: The plane models are excellent, as well as the explosions and effects.
Gameplay: 10/10: As stated earlier, the controls are phenomenal, and for a first time flash programmer, it's just amazing. The statistics are great, also.
Plot: 7/10: I know it wasn't really supposed to have one, but a game like this with a nice plot would get very high scores here.
Sound: 7/10: It could be better, but it definitely isn't bad by any means.
Overall: 8/10, 4/5: This plane shooter is very good, and for a beginner, excellent. If you continue your hard work, I can see you becoming a well known programmer. Good job!

umairazfar responds:

Thanks for the words of encouragement. The next one is going to be 10 times better as this one was more of a learning project and I wanted it to be out there to get tips and hints.

Eh... It has potential

Overall... It was pretty bad. While I give you props for most of your actionscript, the graphics were mediocre at best. Also, in the battle scenes, the attack scenes are continuous.
Graphics: 2/10; You REALLY need to work on these. Use a smaller brush size, please.
Animation: 1/10: Just terrible. Work on this. Use more frames in your animation sequences.
Gameplay: 6/10; Honestly, if your attacks and such worked right, your game would be able to entertain me for at least 10 minutes. Nice scripting with the HP and all that, though.
Plot: 0/10: As you know, no plot at all. Make one in your next submissions.
Overall: 2.25/10: Like stated, it has potential. I think if you improve your animation and graphics and make your game longer, it would be pretty good. I suggest that you collaborate with someone experienced with animation and graphics. Good luck!

Okay

It was fun to play, but the platforming could use a little more work. I found that my character sunk below the slopes and got stuck at some areas.

Graphics: 7/10, These were decent.
Gameplay: 9/10, Perfect, other than what I mentioned above.
Animations: 8/10, The character animations were good, but when Shaun goes to eat you, it moves slowly frame by frame.
Overall:
8/10
4/5

Great game.

I loved the whole graphic layout. It did run a little slow on my computer, but I think this is because my computer is slow. The opening scenes (i.e. the Newgrounds logo) were beautifully animated. The blood and gore gave it an odd feeling, but this was good, because I was always wondering what happened next.
Graphics: 9/10, Pretty flawless.
Sound: 10/10, The song playing went along with the game, and there were plenty of sound effects.
Animation: 10/10, The character movement was just right, as was the other animals such as the squirrel and spider.
Overall: 10/10. Playing this game was pretty satisfying. I can't wait until the sequels. Keep up the good work, guys.
